Taking On Porn Addiction

Here’s a bit about what this website is and why it exists in the first place.

I will keep my personal life more on the down-low, mainly because my story is less important than the information this website offers. Take on the information at its own value. But let’s get down to the thick of things. This is the What and the Why:

Learning about porn addiction

My first contact with the the concept of porn addiction was a few years ago.

Like many, I found the topic through a TED talk by Gary Wilson. Being a long-time psychology enthusiast I delved into the topic. I started from his website Your Brain On Porn  and down the rabbit hole I went.

After countless hours of consuming both the scientific literature and the anecdotal reports, I came to the same conclusion that you have:

what the mainstream science and media have taught us is dead wrong and long-term use of porn has significant negative effects on the brain.

So I decided to quit.

Deconstructing rebooting

Having long struggled with other somewhat similar endeavors, such as removing sugar from my diet and losing weight, I knew that I required a solid game plan.

My obvious lack of willpower had already been proven again and again and I knew it wasn’t going to cut it this time.

What I needed was a comprehensive approach that would minimize or preferably negate the need for my weak willpower. It should also make the rebooting as easy and enjoyable as possible.

Not me, but the process looks damn familiar

Beating porn addiction… poorly

That knowledge is the driving force behind this website.

The community is important and on to something that will be understood as a much larger problem in the coming years.

Yet most of the reboot related information lacks the real “how to” of rebooting. No practical steps that you can immediately put into practice and no clear actions to take that would yield significant results.

Poor approaches are rampant in the community, as are unhelpful mindsets. The same mistakes are repeated over and over. Everyone is holding their playbook upside down.

While rebooting is not easy by any stretch of the imagination, most of the struggle and pain within the community is unnecessary.

That’s why this website exists.

The aim is to offer down to earth, actionable information that will lead to successful rebooting.

My primary focus will always be the what and the how.

The rest will be about the “why of the how”.

Action above all else

I now hoist the responsibility over to you.

None of the information I or anyone else offers is useful unless you put it into action.

Action is the driving force of this website and all of life. Research is to improve upon action already being taken.

What successful rebooter is about

I am not here to come from a position of superiority to tell you how to do your reboot.

Quite the opposite:

I encourage you to disregard anything that does not work for you.

That’s the golden rule of this website.

I have spent and will spend thousands of hours of research time across various topics and use that compounded knowledge to create my material.

But if the science says one thing and you experience another, then always go with your gut!

Feel free to disagree with any and all the information offered.

If something else works for you, great! I applaud your efforts and success. Let me know about it in the comments!

I welcome criticism and discussion in the comments delivered in a constructive and polite manner. I will cull down any impoliteness, negativity or trolling. Just don’t be a dick, okay?

I wish you all the best on your rebooting journey!
